Troy Burleson began his legal career as a prosecutor in the Collin County District Attorney's office. As an assistant district attorney, Mr. Burleson appeared as counsel in over 60 trials while going head to head against the best and brightest defense attorneys in Texas. Mr. Burleson quickly developed a reputation as a smart and tough advocate who has a natural ability to communicate effectively with jurors.

Troy Burleson received his Bachelors of Business Administration degree from the University of Texas at Tyler. Mr. Burleson then graduated with his Juris Doctor from the Dedman School of law at Southern Methodist University. While attending law school he was a staff member of law review and a board member of the board of advocates. Mr. Burleson was also recognized for his advocacy skills in numerous on campus moot court competitions.

As a member of the board of advocates, Mr. Burleson organized and then moderated a Death Penalty Debate between faculty members at Texas Wesleyan University School of Law. This debate, attended by over three hundred students and faculty members was the first in a series of faculty debates launched by the board of advocates at Texas Wesleyan School of Law.

Additionally, Mr. Burleson represented Southern Methodist University in national moot court and mock trial competitions in San Diego, Washington D.C. and San Antonio where he competed against other students from top-tier law schools across the nation. During these competitions, Mr. Burleson was recognized for his advocacy skills by twice placing in the top ten of overall competitors and by winning the highest individual award, Best Overall Advocate, in the Lone Star Mock Trial competition in San Antonio.

Continuing his passion and commitment to advocacy, Mr. Burleson and his wife, Shana, has coached SMU’s John Marsh Moot Court team for the last three years. This team, comprised of law students from SMU, competes annually in Chicago, Illinois.
